Mental models help us in cutting through the noise so that we can make a poised decision. We cannot touch our mind and but we can train it. We do so by tweaking it through our mental models. Our brain is not wired to use mental models. We need to keep rewiring.
Mental models are formed from a certain frame of reference. We all have our frames. We all have our references. Mental models are never cast in mold. We can completely change our mental model just by shifting our reference points. It is as simple as it appears it simply by changing our reference points we can reframe our mental models. Doing something we have never done is an example of shifting our frame of reference.
Whether it is about designing a product or offering a service or running a business or managing a house or nurturing a relationship or governing a state we all need to understand the system. These are complex body of parts that are at work. We cannot get into every element to understand its functioning but we can do so by knowing the framework and understanding the structure.
